Community Services

The Community Services Division is part of the Neighborhood Services Department. Guided by Oak Park’s values of equity, collaboration, and inclusion, the Community Services Division focuses on fostering community well-being through innovative programming, strategic partnerships and responsible stewardship of grant funding.

The Community Services Division focuses on addressing the needs of unhoused residents, implementing alternative responses to calls for service through the E.C.H.O. (Engaging Community for Healthy Outcomes) program and managing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

What We Do

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program

Administering approximately $1.5 million annually in CDBG funding, including HUD-mandated planning, reporting, and compliance monitoring.

E.C.H.O - Engaging Community for Healthy Outcomes

Pilot initiative to provide compassionate, non-police responses to behavioral health crises, homelessness and other non-emergency calls. This includes collaboration with community partners and integration with the Village’s emergency response framework.

Resources for the Unhoused

Through collaboration with neighboring jurisdictions and community partners, the Village is working to support unhoused residents and mitigate challenges associated with homelessness, while promoting public safety and awareness.
