A new local ordinance went into effect in June requiring food establishments in Oak Park to only provide single-use plastic foodware upon request from a customer or at a self-service station in connection with any delivery or take-out order of food or beverage. The change is based on recent action taken by the Village Board to regulate the use of single-use plastics in an effort to reduce waste. Additional regulations related to the use of polystyrene foam packaging will also go into effect in 2024.
