Oak Parkers are invited to the grand opening of the new Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex, Lake Street at Ridgeland Avenue, scheduled for noon to 3 p.m., Sat., June 14. Admission to the pool and ice arena will be free.
Other activities will include musical entertainment and giveaways, as well as an opportunity to meet the new RCRC mascots. Olympic speed skater Emery Lehman also will be there.
The new facility features a year-round, regulation-sized ice arena, new children’s wading pool with a penguin slide and two activity rooms equipped with mirrors, sprung wood floors and ballet bars for dance, fitness and a variety of other programs. Numerous accessibility and energy efficient improvements also have been incorporated throughout the facility.
