Update: Three charged in attempted carjacking
Jan. 29, 2018 – Three Chicago men have been charged in connection with the attempted carjacking Saturday at the Shell gas station on Harrison Street at Austin Boulevard.
Charged with one count each of attempted vehicular hijacking were Sharod Turner, 23, of the 1100 block of S. Mason Street; Jamel Turner, 21, of the 1100 block of S. Mason Street; and Demetrius T. Haymon, 20, of the 5800 block of W. Fulton Avenue.
Jamel Turner and Haymon were arrested near the incident. Sharod Turner was arrested early Sunday morning near his home.
A bond hearing was scheduled for today.
Any criminal charges are merely allegations and all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Jan. 27, 2018 - Oak Park Police are questioning two suspects and seeking a third in connection with an attempted car jacking at about 4 p.m. today at the Shell gas station on Harrison Street at Austin Boulevard.
The victim told Police she was preparing to pump gas when she saw that a man had entered the driver’s side door of her unlocked car. She said when she confronted the man, he implied he had a gun, exited the vehicle and fled on foot north on Austin Boulevard with two other men.
Responding officers saw the men and stopped them, but one was able to elude capture.
The suspect is described as African American, 18 to 22 years old, about 5-feet, seven inches to 5-feet, nine inches tall, with a tattoo on his face. He was wearing a maroon sweatshirt with a gray hood, jeans and white shoes.
No injuries were reported and no weapon found. The investigation is ongoing.
