Deputy named Acting Police Chief

April 25, 2018 – Village Manager Cara Pavlicek announced today that she had appointed Deputy Chief LaDon Reynolds Acting Police Chief while Police Chief Anthony Ambrose takes an extended leave of absence.

“I support the Village Manager taking this action in keeping with routine policy and procedure when the Police Chief is unavailable for an extended time,” Chief Ambrose said. “Deputy Chief Reynolds has my full support and confidence. Knowing he is in charge will allow me to focus on personal matters that need my full attention. I can say without hesitation that the people of Oak Park will be in good hands during in my absence.”

Reynolds has been Deputy Police Chief since September, when he was promoted from detective commander and joined Deputy Chief Frank Limon on the Department’s senior command staff.

A law enforcement veteran with more than 23 years of experience, Reynolds joined the Oak Park Police Department in 1994. He holds a Master of Science degree in Education and Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

He also is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute, and the Community Leadership Program at Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business.
