Jan. 22, 2016 - Officials representing Oak Park’s six government taxing bodies will gather Saturday (Jan. 23) for the third annual InterGovernmental Assembly to share information, discuss potential collaborative opportunities and talk about present and future challenges.
The gathering, scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon at Percy Julian Middle School, 416 S. Ridgeland Ave., will include elected officials and senior staff from Elementary School District 97, High School District 200, the Village, Township, Park District and Library.
Each organization will present a summary of its financial status, explain the factors that drive operations and outline the challenges they face now and likely will face in the future.
The meeting will include a community data snapshot presentation on the general demographics of the community, including details on housing, incomes, transportation costs, employment status and other factors that can help elected officials craft public policy strategies that better serve both current and perspective residents.
A presentation on bond debt also is planned, as officials grapple with how the missions and responsibilities of individual taxing bodies can be viewed more holistically to temper the cumulative impact on the community.
The meeting is open to the public. Click here to view the meeting agenda.
